In 2009 we celebrated 100 years of Fletcher.

It was a celebration of a century of imagination, hard work, and successful entrepreneurship – and many of the people who contributed to that tradition took part. You came to reunions, donated material to The Fletcher Trust Archive, checked out our website, and sent us stories that brought the Fletcher story to life.

There were many highlights. The centenary saw us return to Dunedin for our Annual General Meeting, in tribute to Fletcher's southern origins. Children and grandchildren of former staff members contacted the Archive for information to fill gaps in family histories. We heard from those who had worked on some of the memorable projects with which the Fletcher name is associated. Three books were published which recorded the history of Fletcher and the part it played in development of New Zealand in the 20th century.

At the end of the year, we were left with a richer understanding of the Fletcher history and a deep appreciation for all those whose energy, enterprise and skills helped make Fletcher a recognised and respected name.

The celebration of the Fletcher tradition continues. We will continue to add stories and photographs to our fletchersince1909.com website. The Fletcher Trust Archive will continue to be accessed by historians, academics and the wider Fletcher 'family' as a priceless repository of information on New Zealand's business and social history. Through Fletcher Building, the Fletcher name enters a second century of association with the development of neighbourhoods and nations.

Thank you for helping us celebrate, and thank you too for helping us explain and record achievements that will inspire future generations.
